OUR ORIGIN STORY
It could be said that the heritage of Glen Burnie United Methodist Church consists of “three small churches” plus “three buildings” of its present structure. However important the buildings, it is the people who make the church and we are forever indebted to those faithful servants of our Lord who, for over 150 years, have kept the spirit of God alive in this community.
Glen Burnie United Methodist Church, located at 5 Second Ave., S.E., Glen Burnie, MD, has been a cornerstone of the local community for generations. Established in the heart of Glen Burnie, this church has long served as a spiritual home for its congregation and a beacon of service to the surrounding area. The church's classic architecture, featuring its iconic steeple, welcomes members and visitors alike, offering a space of peace and reflection.
Throughout its history, Glen Burnie UMC has been deeply involved in outreach efforts, supporting both local and global causes. From food drives to mission trips, the church embodies its commitment to serving others, inspired by faith and compassion. One notable partnership is with Rise Against Hunger, where the church has hosted numerous fundraising events to combat hunger worldwide.
The vibrant congregation comes together regularly for worship, fellowship, and service, creating a close-knit community with a shared sense of purpose. Whether it's through Sunday worship services, community events, or charitable initiatives, Glen Burnie United Methodist Church continues to stand as a pillar of faith, hope, and love in Glen Burnie.
